Louis Vuitton: "Masters" by Jeff Koons - Yes or No?
The famous French luxury brand, Louis Vuitton, revealed the new Limited Edition collection in collaboration with Jeff Koons.
The American artist decided to play with the great masterpieces of art and precisely with DaVinci, Rubens, Van Gogh, Fragonard and Titian.
He selected the most representative work for single artist and decided to play it on some iconic bag models of the Maison.
The collection has made a lot of noise in the fashion world, there is a clear division between those who think it's a brilliant collection and who thinks it is one of the most kitsch collections ever made.
It must be assumed that Koons has always been a great artist over the lines that has always loved kitsch and continues, above all, to love his ability to always succeed in causing a strong reaction on people (either positive or negative).
The idea behind this collection, says Mr. Koons, is that a person walking with one of these bags on the street is celebrating humanity and art itself and anyone looking at that bag can sense that energy of strong connection that always binds Man to Art because,even after long times, these are immortal works.
Certainly not a collection for everyones, at times (especially some pieces) can be very kitsch even though, personally, I like the whole project.
If I had to choose between the proposals, I would certainly look for the collection reserved for Van Gogh or Rubens because the colors of those paintings are perfect, they are imprinted and carry on with a small piece of art is never wrong.
Il famoso marchio francese, Louis Vuitton, ha rivelato la nuova collezione Limited Edition in collaborazione con Jeff Koons.
L'artista americano ha deciso di giocare con i grandi maesti dell'arte e precisamente con DaVinci, Rubens, Van Gogh, Fragonard e Titian.
Ha così selezionato, per singolo artista, l'opera più rappresentativa ed ha deciso di riprodurla su alcuni modelli iconici della Maison.
La collezione ha fatto molto scalpore nel mondo della moda, vi è una netta divisione tra chi pensa sia una collezione geniale e chi pensa che sia una delle collezioni piu kitsch mai realizzate fino ad oggi.
Bisogna partire dal presupposto che Koons è sempre stato un grande artista sopra le righe che ha sempre amato il kitsch e continua ,soprattutto, ad amare la sua capacità di riuscire sempre a provocare una forte reazione sulla gente (positiva o negativa che sia).
L'idea alla base di questa collezione, afferma Mr. Koons, è quella secondo cui una persona che cammina con una di queste borse per strada starà celebrando l'umanità e l'arte stessa e chiunque guardi quella borsa riesca a sentire quell'energia e quella connessione che da sempre lega l'uomo all'Arte perchè, nonostane il passare degli anni, queste sono opere immortali.
Sicuramente non è una collezione alla portata di tutti, a tratti (soprattutto alcuni pezzi) possono risultare molto kitsch anche se, personalmente, non mi dispiace l'intero progetto.
Se dovessi scegliere tra le proposte opterei certamente per la collezione riservata a Van Gogh o Rubens perchè i colori di quei dipinti sono perfetti, restano impressi e portare con se una piccola opera d'arte non è mai sbagliato.
